How do I get access to Summer Census?
You’ll first need to get your school ready for SIMS Next Gen. You’ll need to get your data flowing between SIMS 7 and SIMS Next Gen. You can find a walkthrough of the five simple steps you need to get up and running in our latest blog.
Can I still use Summer Census in SIMS 7?
This Summer term you can still use SIMS 7 but we're offering a limited number of schools the opportunity to try out the Summer Census in SIMS Next Gen. It’s been revamped from the ground up and makes it much simpler to prepare your school's Census.
What’s happening with the other Census reports?
For now you can complete all your Census reports in SIMS 7, but we recommend getting ahead and getting ready with SIMS Next Gen.
Going forward all of the Census reports will be moving over to SIMS Next Gen. So the next Census you do for Summer, Autumn and Spring will be the last time you can do them in SIMS 7.
The SIMS Next Gen general release dates for the Census reports are as shown below. Except for Autumn Census, PLASC and Post 16, when returns are available in SIMS Next Gen, they will no longer be available in SIMS 7.

- Autumn Census – Autumn 2026
- Workforce Census – Autumn 2026
- SWAC - Autumn 2026
- Spring Census – Spring 2027
- Catholic Census – Spring 2027
- PLASC - Spring 2027
- ADC - Spring 2027
- Post 16 - Autumn 2027
