- Create space for meaningful conversations: Asking "How are you?" isn’t enough - it needs to be followed by genuine listening and action.
Practical strategies for immediate impact
James also shared practical exercises that educators can implement right away. One particularly effective tool is the Inspirational Moments exercise. This involves reflecting on a moment from the past week that brought joy or demonstrated the impact of your work. This simple yet powerful practice helps to reinforce a sense of purpose and shift focus from challenges to achievements.
Another key strategy is the power of abandonment - asking, "What can we stop doing?" Schools often continue practices that are no longer serving them. Identifying and eliminating unnecessary tasks can significantly reduce stress and workload.
