As Christmas draws near, your school is no doubt buzzing with activity - from nativity plays and festive crafts to show-stopping productions and Christmas Jumper Day. It’s a magical time of year!
It’s also an exciting time for SIMS Next Gen.
This December, we’re excited to launch the highly anticipated Class View - an all-in-one classroom management tool for teachers - along with several other modules to make life easier for everyone in your school.
Don’t forget, SIMS Next Gen is a brand-new MIS, rebuilt for the cloud - giving you access anytime, anywhere, on any device.
Take 15 minutes this December to explore the new modules available and see how SIMS Next Gen can transform the way you work. Start the New Year with more time to focus on what matters most!
For Teachers:
Class View
Class View helps you run your classroom more efficiently by bringing essential teaching tasks and key pupil information together in one place
With Class View, you can:
- Create seating plans to support collaboration and minimise distractions.
- Monitor behaviour and record both positive and negative conduct events.
- Track key student information like EAL, Pupil Premium, and SEND to deliver personalised teaching strategies.
- Record assessments to identify areas for improvement and plan interventions.
By streamlining these tasks, Class View empowers teachers to make data-driven decisions for early intervention, helping to improve educational outcomes for every student.
Conduct Events
Building on the success of the new Conduct Management module - which has made it easier for office teams to record exclusions and suspensions - we’re excited to introduce Conduct Events to help you better manage student behaviour.
With Conduct Events, you can:
- Tailor positive and negative behaviour types to match your school’s language and values.
- Record negative behaviour based on severity levels, capturing the right level of detail for actionable insights.
- Retrieve and review behaviour records to identify trends, intervene early, and support student wellbeing.
For senior leaders and office teams:
Staff Absences
Simplify absence management with the new Staff Absences module. Record, view, and manage staff absences - past, current, and future - all from one central location.
With Staff Absences, you can quickly record, or update staff absences and easily gain a clear overview of staff availability at-a-glance.
For MAT leaders:
Group Hub MIS
Take control of your trust with Group Hub MIS, a brand-new centralised management solution offering a holistic view of your trust and streamlining operations across schools.
The first phase launches to early adopter MATs this month and includes:
- MAT Profile: Access key metrics like attendance rates and Ofsted ratings for all schools in your trust, all in one place.
- Clusters: Group schools for targeted analysis and reporting.
- School MIS Access: Drill down into individual school’s MIS for detailed pupil and staff information.
- Staff Profile: Centrally manage staff data to ensure consistent operations across your trust.
For all staff:
Pupil Profile: Further Funding
Last month, we introduced Further Funding in SIMS Next Gen, centralising Early Years funding data in one place. From funded hours to eligibility codes and extended hours, this update has made tracking funding easier than ever.
This December, we’re completing this section to give you even more functionality, further reducing the need for external spreadsheets and simplifying funding management.
Pupil Profile: Statutory SEND/ALN
This update makes it easier to record and manage key data related to SEND or ALN in your school. You can:
- Record the SEN/ALN Provision, the SEN/ALN Need, and whether a pupil is part of an SEN/ALN Unit or Resourced Provision.
- Ensure statutory reporting compliance with seamless integration between SIMS Next Gen and SIMS7 - any updates made in one system are reflected in the other.
For schools in Wales, ALN terminology will be displayed in place of SEND, ensuring it aligns with local requirements.
